54thAnnual German-American Festival set for August 23, 24, and 25 at Oak Shade Grove
 
OREGON, Ohio, August 12, 2019: The German-American Festival, Toledo areas oldest and largest ethnic festival, is gearing up for its 54thyear.


Organizers expect upward of 30,000 paid attendees to take part in the festival, which features authentic German food, beer and entertainment. Held at Oak Shade Grove in Oregon, Ohio, the Festival is operated by the G.A.F. Society and sponsored by the seven German- and Swiss-American Societies of greater Toledo. 

 
This years Festival kicks off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23 and runs until 1:00 a.m.; the parade and opening ceremonies will take place at 8:00 p.m. Festival hours on Saturday, August 24 are Noon through 1:00 a.m. and Noon through 11:00 p.m. n Sunday, August 25.

A German-language worship service will be held beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
 
Notable events throughout the weekend include: continuous live music on four different stages, a large 56by 40wooden dance floor, an old-world style outdoor Bier and Wein Garten, amusement rides and various kids activities, Mitzis Hutte for Festival souvenirs and collectible items, Glockenspiel, pretzel and cheese-eating contests, an authentic Swiss stone throwing contest, the Beer Mile, all of the German food and drink favorites and much, much moreall on 10 wooded acres to provide an authentic German atmosphere. 
 
Also back this year is the GAF Raffle! Win the Grand Prize of a 2-year lease of a BMW X2 from Yark BMW or a Second-Place prize of a 3-hour, 6-passenger limo service, courtesy of Childers, along with a complimentary dinner for two at either Final Cut Steak & Seafood or Epic Buffet and a VIP table at a Hollywood Casino concert event. Admission to the festival is $10.00 per person at the gate. Children 12 and under are admitted free all weekend when accompanied by a parent or guardian. $8.00 discount advance purchase admission tickets and $8.00 GAF shuttle tickets (as well as shuttle locations) are available online at

About the German-American Festival: The Festival is operated by GAF Society, which is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (c) (3) organization.  It is sponsored by the seven German and Swiss-American societies in Toledo, and is intended to promote and enhance the German and Swiss cultures, as well as generate revenue to support the German and Swiss cultural center in Oregon, along with a variety of scholarship, athletic and philanthropic programs in the Toledo area.
